Dakar is our operating base: it is where AFROTO is registered and where all our post-production is done, whatever country the footage comes from. We have worked here for Digital Africa, ALIMA, Investisseurs & Partenaires, IUCN, GIZ, Expertise France, Start Network, AEDIB, Mobilize Your City and African Business Heroes. Senegal is also one of the eleven countries covered by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie's « Les Pionnières de l'entrepreneuriat francophone » programme.

Project reportage, corporate portraits, summit and conference coverage. Dakar hosts a large share of West Africa's regional gatherings, and our photographers cover institutional events here that run over several days.

Seasons and light. The rainy season runs from July to October. The dry season gives cleaner light, but also a dust haze towards the end of winter.
Distances and travel. Our creators are based in Dakar and work outwards from the capital. Senegal is easier to cross than most of the countries we operate in: Thiès is under seventy kilometres away, Saint-Louis about two hundred and sixty, while Ziguinchor takes a full day by road or a domestic flight. A shoot in the Dakar region therefore comes together in a few days; an assignment in Casamance has to be planned.

We have around ten AfroCréateurs in Senegal. They work in French and Wolof, and have all the equipment audiovisual production requires.
No individual profiles are published. We select the most relevant creator for the assignment; the client does not approve them before the shoot.

Yes, for every assignment, including those shot in other countries. Our post-production team is in Dakar: that is what guarantees the same grade and the same finish from one country to the next, where a patchwork of local suppliers would deliver films that do not match.
Yes, and often: several of our productions cover three or four countries from Dakar. Local creators shoot, the rushes come back here, and the same team edits. The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie made the point about its multi-country projects — that capacity to mobilise professionals across the continent makes it possible « d'obtenir des outils de communication homogènes pour l'ensemble de ses zones d'intervention », to obtain consistent communication materials across all its areas of operation.
French and Wolof, with no interpreter standing between the person filmed and the camera. On a project reportage, that noticeably shortens the time it takes to build trust: people tell their story instead of answering questions.
